Columbia Sportswear in conjunction with CSC Cultivators, Portland Design Week and the One Grand Gallery Presents: 75 Years of Creative Outdoors Gallery Show
The purpose of this gallery art exhibit is to celebrate Columbia Sportswear’s Diamond Anniversary. Columbia Sportswear has been a part of the Portland design community for 75 years since 1938 and has created and produced some innovative technologies in the outdoor world, from hats, to ski jackets, to fishing vests. We want to celebrate Columbia’s artistic and talented design by curating a show that expresses our outdoor creativity.
The Cultivators are the creative culture ambassador team within Columbia’s Design organization – our mission is to "plant, grow and cultivate a vibrant design culture at Columbia Sportswear, so that our internal design, inspiration and work ethic flourishes and overflows into the big wide world."
What better way to celebrate an Anniversary and Design in the same breathe is to showcase our design talent at Portland Design Week. We plan on opening the show on Friday October 11th, 2013 a one night gallery event hosted by the One Grand Gallery open to the public and to our design community.
The show will feature art inspired by the outdoors by Columbia’s talented designers, in a range of mediums, there will be a guest speaker and a special showcase artist/s, as well as a featured local DJ providing the beats, and a silent auction of the art pieces to benefit a local charity. As well as a curation of some of Columbia’s product design history. The hope is to fill the evening with inspired art, some inspirational words, dive into our past while celebrating the future of design, to give back to our community and share with other designers.
